OMG, practice was great last night. I've been reading up on my WFTDA regulations... I'm pretty sure I could be a ref. I find myself reading the regulations all the time, and everywhere. I think i'm really coming along as a skater and a derby girl. I feel more and more comfortable in my skates every time I put them on.
Today was CHAOTIC!!!! I am in charge of tickets and sales for our first home bout, (Feb 12 @7, Joplin Sportspark) and every body wanted tickets. I drove a whole tank of gas on deliveries alone! It's so worth it, though. Our girls have worked soo hard to get to this point and I'm just glad to be a part of it.
Support your local derby, folks. These are the moms, PTA chairwomen, docs , nurses, waitresses and just about any occupation you can think of, that help your community thrive. Most leagues are non-profit and donate proceeds to local community support groups like Boys and Girls Club, homeless shelters, and the American Heart Association.

This is my very first blog. Hopefully, as we go on a journey, you will find this funny, inspiring and pray that you comment and give your feedback. Be honest!
Today is 1/12/11.... It was -3 degrees in JOMO today... I've been in the house since Sat... Cabin Fever is a real disease.
Guess I should introduce myself :) I am a 27 yr old mother of 1. My 6 year old, Jalen, is the funniest person I've ever met. I have a totally awesome boyfriend, of almost 5 years. He knows my almost as much as my mom. I work for AT&T as an IT analyst and am quite the nerd. I'm a Leo and very Leo at that. I am also a pro skater for the Mo-Kan Roller Girlz, #88.
Okay, enough of the mushy stuff.
I'm normally all derby, all the time. I was never much of a skater as a youngster. Wasnt good at all. But ,all that changed Oct 2010. My friends had a birthday party at a local skating rink and I saw some of the girls that skated for Mo-Kan. I skated that night and came back the next weekend. I decided to come to a practice and hasn't missed one since. I think it was the best thing that ever happened to me next to my family.
We'll get to know each other real soon! Bout to watch Despicable Me with my boys :)
